Player of the Matchday

Niko Tsakiris

Niko Tsakiris stole the show in Snapdragon Stadium. Tsakiris registered a goal and two assists, taking it upon himself to give the 'Quakes their first win since May. His goal was a brilliant curler into the bottom corner, but his assists were even better. He was back to his best on Wednesday night, showing that he has the potential to be one of the premier playmakers in the MLS.

Young Player of the Matchday

Quinn Sullivan

Quinn Sullivan got his first start of the MLS season on Wednesday after tearing his ACL almost a year ago. He was fantastic. Sullivan scored a goal and an assist and was a constant threat down the right side of the Union attack. His never ending energy is crucial for the Union's system, who look more dangerous than ever with Quinn back in the starting 11.

Goal of the Matchday

Mateusz Bogusz

Locked in a 1-1 battle with RSL, Houston was urgently pushing for the game winner. Bogusz was determined to break the deadlock. Receiving a switch of play to the corner of the 18 yard box, Bogusz knew exactly what he wanted to do. One touch to settle, one to take the ball onto his left foot, and one to finish. And what a finish it was. It curled beautifully into the top corner with pace; a truly unstoppable shot from the Pole to secure all three points for the Dynamo.

Assist of the Matchday

Niko Tsakiris

Niko Tsakiris produced one of the passes of the season against San Diego. The young midfielder picked up the ball about 40 yards from goal and played a 20 yard dime over the back line to teammate Ousseni Bouda, who didn't even need to break stride to head the ball past the keeper. Oh by the way, the pass was with the outside of Tsakiris' left foot. To hit such a perfectly flighted ball with the right pace and flawless placement is such an extraordinarily difficult skill to execute. Pure wizardry from San Jose's number 10.

9/10 Shots inside box

DC United had 10 shots on Wednesday against Columbus Crew. 9 of them came from inside the 18 yard box. This shows that when DC created chances, they were good chances in areas where goals are scored. And when you have Tai Baribo on your team, generating these types of chances generally result in goals. Baribo's brace gave DC United a much needed three points that puts them just one point below the playoff line.
